Turn your healthy lifestyle into a professional fitness career. Increased health consciousness means a high demand for trusted professionals to assess fitness levels, help with setting goals, design appropriate fitness programs, and provide motivation. With this certificate, you will learn to create and lead individual and group exercises that are tailor-made for the health needs of clients through advanced knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, nutrition and exercise science. Fitness trainers conduct client assessments to develop these plans, help establish healthy nutritional behaviors and motivate their clients to succeed.

Our hands-on certificate program can be completed in less time than an associate degree and will prepare you to become a fitness trainer in private health fitness clubs, park district health fitness centers, gyms, and more. Convenient class times, including late afternoon and evening to accommodate busy schedules.

Fitness trainers and instructors lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises (exercises for the heart and blood circulation), strength training, and stretching. They work with people of all ages and skill levels.

Employment of fitness trainers and instructors is projected to grow 19% from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations. As businesses, government, and insurance organizations continue to recognize the benefits of health and fitness programs for their employees, incentives to join gyms or other types of health clubs are expected to increase the need for fitness trainers and instructors.
